Asphalt Paving Company in Garland, Texas
A town does not become the second-most populous city in Dallas County without having a great deal to offer, and Garland definitely fills the bill. The city is home to a variety of manufacturing plants, food processors, recreational facilities, entertainment venues, and public parks. When businesses in Garland need asphalt repairs, concrete installation, asphalt paving, parking lot striping, asphalt overlays, concrete repairs, asphalt sealcoating, parking lot maintenance, or asphalt crack repairs, HI-TEK Paving Services is often asked to assist.
What Is Garland’s History?
Although settlers began arriving in the area as early as 1850, no communities were founded until 1874. Two settlements, Duck Creek and Embree, were created, and a rivalry developed between them over which community should be given the local post office. The dispute was settled in 1887 by establishing the post office between the competing communities, and a new settlement was established. The new location was named Garland in honor of Augustus Hill Garland, the Attorney General of the United States from 1885 until 1889. The three communities would soon combine, and the city was officially incorporated in 1891 as Garland.
At that time, the city had fewer than 500 residents. Growth continued slowly until the economic boom years that followed World War II. Between 1940 and 1950, however, the population increased from approximately 2,200 to more than 10,500. As Dallas expanded, so did its suburbs, and by 1970, Garland was home to more than 81,400 people. At the dawn of the 21st century, Garland had a population of almost 216,000, and this was estimated at nearly 240,000 in 2019.
